Messier 20 - The Trifid Nebula in Sagittarius

Three dark lanes divide the nebula into its distinctive shape.  Very colorful due to do both oxygen and hydrogen gases.  This object looks great with an 8" or larger scope and an OIII filter.  

Location: Texas Star Party near Fort Davis, Texas
Date/Time: May, 2002.
Equipment: 10" LX-200 Classic and SBIG ST-V
Exposure:  Six 1 minute exposures at f/3.75; normal mode. Unguided.
