Probably the most thrilling object in the night sky!  Even small scopes can see the Cassini division separating the outer two bands.  An instrument like the STV makes planets easy targets.  I took this on the first night out with the STV.\

Saturn taken with handheld digital camera

Not bad for just holding a digital camera to the eyepiece.  Give it a try!

Location:  Ballauer Observatory, near Azle, Texas

Equipment: 10" LX-200 with  Sony Cybershot digital camera, handheld to eyepiece
Exposures: Five 2 second exposures at f/3.5 (camera settings)
Processing Information:  Stacking in Registax.  Unsharp Mask and Cropping in Photoshop 7.
